From the cottage window seat by the old Cornish range one can keep watch over St. Mawes Harbour, the blue ferry for Falmouth, the sailing boats and the Scilly gigs.

Up the Victory Steps, Phil, landlord of the Victory Inn stands ready to pull you a pint of Doom Bar.
Nearby there are good restaurants in the Rising Sun, Idle Rocks, Watch House and St. Mawes Hotel. A short stroll towards the Castle brings you to the Tresanton Hotel, and its terrace restaurant famous for its style and celebrity clientele.
Ferries bustle in and out from the Quay, and can take you across to Falmouth, up river to Trellissick for gardens and a cream tea, or over to St. Anthony with excellent walks to Place Manor and the Lighthouse. Nearby there are wonderful places to visit such as The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the National Maritime Museum.
